MAK มาก 막

The first exhibition of PLACEMAK BKK begins with the etymological meaning of the word 'MAK'. When I first thought of the name of a space on the Places screen, I chose the word "MAK" to include an interpretation of its diversity among its many meanings. MAK means temporality in Korean. It means 'just', such as 'right now' or 'at the right time'. It is also an abbreviation of '마구 마구', which has the meaning of 'severely', meaning 'anything' and 'everything', and also expresses ideological energy such as 'strongly' and 'very bad'. So, the curtain of the place screen has the potential to 'go forward boldly with faith right now'. Looking up the meaning of 'MAK' in Thai pronunciation, it is a word commonly used for the meaning of 'many', and is an adverb meaning a state of exceeding the limit to some extent. When you say 'really delicious' in Thai, it is often pronounced as 'MAK MAK อร่อย'. In the hope that the meaning of 'MAK' and the Thai word 'มาก' will become a positive stem in the upcoming PLACEMAK BKK, the 'MAK มาก 막' exhibition is presented as the first exhibition.

PLACEMAK BKK 개관전은 '막'이라는 어원에 대한 의미로 시작하려한다.

플레이스막에서 막은 처음 공간명을 고민할 때, 의미를 담고자 하는 여러가지중 다양성이라는 해석을 넣고자 선택한 단어이다. 막은 한국어원으로는 시간성을 의미한다. '지금바로', '바로그때'와 같이 가차운 시간을 의미한다. 그리고, 마구(분사)의 준말로서 '아무거나', '모든것들'이라는 뜻과 '세차게', '아주심하게'와 같은 관념적인 에너지도 함께 표현된다. 그래서 플레이스막에서의 막은, '모든 아무거나 신념을 갖고 당차게 지금바로 나아간다'라는 잠재력을 내포하고 있다. 태국어로 발음상 'MAK'은 어떤 의미가 있을까 찾아보니 일정한 정도나 한계를 뛰어넘은 상태를 뜻하는 부사, '너무'의 뜻으로 흔하게 쓰는 단어이다. 흔히 '너무너무 맛있다'를 태국어로 하면 '막막 아로이'라고 발음하면 된다. '막'과 태국어, 'มาก'의 의미가 앞으로 펼쳐질 PLACEMAK BKK에서의 긍정적 어간으로 자리잡길 바라며 'MAK มาก 막' 전시를 개관전으로 선보인다.
